Hi! I'm Alan, the developer of Japitown.
It has always been my dream to develop a video game, and this project is the first big step toward making that a reality. To bring this world to life, I rely on artificial intelligence tools for both the art and the programming. However, there is a lot of hard work and dedication behind every detail: I work meticulously to generate consistent images that I then personally edit and refine, and I carefully oversee and adjust the code step by step to ensure all mechanics are fully functional.
I sincerely hope you enjoy the experience. I would love to receive all your feedback—both the good and the bad—as your comments are essential to help me know what to work on and how to keep improving.
Now, here is a brief intro to the story, along with the game's current mechanics and the future plans for it.
⚠️ Important Notice: Japitown is a game currently in development (Early Access). The content, story, and mechanics described below are actively expanding and receiving constant updates.
Story
You return to your childhood city to settle into the home of Mónica, your father's ex-wife. Her twin daughters, Violet and Jasmine, also live there. After years of absence, the dynamic between you all has changed. Now, it's in your hands to rebuild your relationship with the girls, influence their personalities, and begin to rediscover all the secrets, tensions, and surprises that await in Japitown.
Current Mechanics
- Time & Routine System: Time progresses across 4 daily time slots. Characters have lives of their own and move autonomously around the house depending on the time and day.
- Quest Engine: Dynamic missions that require you to meet specific time, inventory, and stat conditions, featuring narrative paths that adapt to your decisions or failures.
- Progression & Stats: Improve your own core attributes (Strength, Charisma, Dexterity, Intelligence) and shape unique, independent relationship stats with each girl.
- Interactive Smartphone: Use your immersive cellphone to chat with characters, make choices that yield rewards, and buy items online that will later arrive via delivery.
- Skin System: Characters automatically change their clothes based on the situation (sleeping, working out, etc.). You can unlock and manage their outfits directly from your phone
Roadmap
Version 0.1: Initial Polish & Expansion
- Community Improvements: General changes and tweaks based directly on the feedback received.
- More of Violet: Changes and new narrative content for Violet's questline.
- Maintenance: General bug fixes and optimization.
Version 0.1.5: Major Improvements
- NPC Stat System: Changed the stats for each NPC and how they interact with game progression.
- Conversation System: Modified the system to align with the new stats, and updated all of Violet's interactions within it.
- Quest System: Available choices will influence different narrative paths within the current quest and will be saved in the NPC's memory.
- Memory System: These will unlock unique routes and interactions with the NPC.
- Tutorial: Added a tutorial for the game's core mechanics.
Version 0.2: Economy & Exploration
- The World Expands: Interactive minimap with a navigation system and new locations to explore.
- New Faces: 3 new characters, each with their own questlines.
- Economic Reform: Complete redesign of the shopping, delivery, and inventory systems.
- Financial Management: Implementation of a bank system, investments, and new work mechanics.
- New Items: More items available and new practical utilities for them.
- The Power of Money: New exclusive rewards based on your economic progress.
- JustFans: New in-game system to purchase exclusive content 🔥.
Version 0.3: Attributes & Main Story
- The Plot Advances: Introduction of the new Main Story questline.
- Character Development: New specific content to expand Jasmine and Mónica's stories.
- More Inhabitants: New locations, new characters, and an additional main character with their own questline.
- Progression Redesign: Deep changes to the attribute (stats) system and its gameplay implementation.
- The Environment Reacts: New interactable elements in the world that will depend directly on your stat levels.
